Hi, I’m Jeannette Martinez, and it's great to meet you! I am an experienced NBCMI certified Spanish medical interpreter; I have been working in the medical and healthcare sector since 2014. I initially set out to be a legal interpreter, but through what I believe to be God’s plan I ended up becoming a medical interpreter instead and I have appreciated every minute of it. Working as a medical interpreter has brought me a lot of satisfaction and joy and I truly feel that I am fulfilling my professional calling. So now, I want to impart my enthusiasm and knowledge to others like you. Throughout my career, I have worked with a number of different specialties, and therefore I have had the opportunity to help families who face different kinds of diagnosis, treatments, procedures, and so much more. I have had the privilege of serving as a mentor to aspiring and seasoned interpreters, and it has been an incredibly rewarding experience for me. Another part of my role has been to precept newly hired interpreters, which I find very valuable, as it gives me the opportunity to share my passion for the profession and the organization where I work. Whether as a mentor or preceptor, my goal is to always help others obtain the skills they need to become successful medical interpreters and more. Being a medical interpreter means that I am always learning and growing, professionally and personally, and I would not change that for the world. And because of my love of languages in general, I hope to be fluent in at least a third language before retirement!
